Here is Cohen’s Temple a part of First Born Church of the Living God inc., in Gainesville, Florida. Pastored by the Assistant Auxiliary National Superintendent, Gary L. Cohen Sr.

 

Cohen's Temple is a part of the First Born Church of the Living God Inc. and one of four churches of the Jacksonville, North Central Diocese District. Our pastor of eleven years is Superintendent Gary L. Cohen Sr. and as you walk into our church we have a banner that reads "Going to the Next Level". Our local newsletter is called the "Going to the Next Level News". This encouraging slogan was envisioned by our pastor in "2004" and our church in Gainesville is truly growing spiritually by leaps and bounds. Our members are truly blessed to be a part of the miracles that God is performing in our congregation.

Our pastor refers to our church as a refuge for the sick. Some of our members  have been through hard times, such as addictions to drugs, men, abuse, sex, gambling, ect. They have  been able to find Christ, and receive any  help that they may have  needed. They now have the desire to reach out to the community,  as someone had once reached out to them.  It is an never ending cycle, because they have been there and know what it is about, they  go into this venture with experience, open mindedness, willing hearts, and no prejudices. Only dedication, patience, prayers and love.

Our love also extends to the youth in our community. We realize that our future lies in our youth and we need to set examples for them and keep them lifted up  before the Lord. We have a phenomenal youth department with excellent youth leaders who accommodate our youth's interest and possibilities, designed with the mind to keep them motivated. We have youth fundraisers which help finance positive entertainment and structured activities for our youth, such as outings, trips, socials and events. The first Sunday service of each month has been dedicated for our youth to show responsibility and take charge to lead the service, usher, sing and show off the many talents that they possess.  Twice a month we have a Youth Church where the youth take total charge of service in order to help them prepare for their future responsibilities.

When you think of family that is what we are. When we set our hearts and minds to get something done, we get together and we do it. We are opening workshops for our community to be able to take advantage of and to hear the word of the Lord on any subject, and we are presently forming a membership drive in order to bring in as many willing souls as possible. Our church is like one big family. Our pastor is obedient in facilitating frequent family prayers that the Lord has placed on his heart. These prayers have helped keep us stay strong and encouraged in the Lord when we depart from one another and until we meat again.
